Sid Murshid is no stranger to the local music scene. Upon returning to Kuala Lumpur from the United States at eight years old, he started classical training in piano, which would later become his principal instrument.
Four years after, he took the risk of venturing out of classical music, and began experimenting with songwriting and composing in other genres- a move which ultimately formed his signature style of music, a genre he dubs ‘sexy-time pop’.
During this time, in an effort to better understand his music, Sid picked up violin, saxophone and guitar, making himself the multi-instrumentalist he is today. In June 2016, five years after he first started performing, Sid landed a record deal with Universal Music Malaysia, and released his first Malay single, ‘Di Hati’, produced by the well-known Omar K, in January 2017.
‘Di Hati’ was used as the soundtrack to a local Malaysian telefilm, ‘Cupid’, which aired on Astro Mustika HD & Astro Citra in March 2017. In July 2018, Sid released his second single, ‘Akhirnya’.
Sid is also an up-and-coming composer, with his compositions including ‘Hiasi Duniaku’, the last track in Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza’s latest album, and ‘Mencintaimu’ by Alvin Chong.
