Estranged consists of vocalist Rich Gimbang, Din Hormatov, and Nor Hanafi Noor Hadi. Estranged formed in 2001, and participated in their first big festival, Malaysia’s annual Rock The World, in 2004; this inspired them to record their first album, entitled In Hating Memory.
In September 2006, Estranged received a ‘Favourite Local English Act’ nomination at the Anugerah Era awards. The following year, Rich sparked the idea of writing a Malay song called Itu Kamu, a song many now consider to be a Malaysian modern rock classic.
Estranged released their second album, Remain Unknown in 2008. The album was a critical success, securing eight nominations at the 16th Anugerah Industri Muzik awards in 2009- making them the most nominated artist that year.
Estranged also received the Most Popular Group and Most Popular Song awards at Anugerah Planet Muzik in 2008, emerging as winners from a selection of artists across the region. Over the years, Estranged’s musical journey has brought them around the region; they have promoted and performed their music internationally.
In 2016, Estranged released their fourth studio album, Sepenuhnya Vol. 1, earning them a prestigious Best Album nomination at the 22nd Anugerah Industri Muzik awards, and including the hit song ‘Hancur Aku’ featuring Fazura and the track ‘Seperti Yang Dinantikan’.
